how to conquer fear of being alone?

by FearLessDoMore on June 15, 2010

I have a job that requires me to work in a church alone. I like the job its easy and I can come in whenever I want so I don’t want to quite but I can’t get over how scared I get of being in there alone. I thought that I would get over it after time but I haven’t. I get really scared and paranoid because I’m the only one there. I’m not afraid that someone is gonna break in or because I’m in a church it’s more of the fact that I’m alone and it makes me scared and paranoid. so I work really fast and this makes my boss unhappy and I’m starting to dread going to work. Does anyone know of a way that could help me conquer my fear? I’ve already tried listening to headphones and I’m not allowed to have anyone come in with me after Business hours…
I start working after it is closed, thats why I’m the only one there

You are not alone… Jesus is staring at you… all the time…

you are never alone.

Our Father is omnipresent and watches over you in that church like a silent, white-bearded guardian angel, protecting you from all the tyranny and evil in the world

Try turning the lights on or something. Just remember its just a job, and its a very good one at that. Most people dont have a job like you and have to be in at a certain time or something like that. Tell your boss that you want to keep the job, but ask him what he does when hes alone in the church or wherever. This will let him know your not a poor worker, just a small fear of being alone. :)
