Do you consider Thomas Jefferson a traitor against the United States when he said these quotes?

by FearLessDoMore on March 25, 2010

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.-Thomas Jefferson
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.-Thomas Jefferson
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.-Thomas Jefferson
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them-
Thomas Jefferson

If these quotes are treacherous. Call me a traitor as well, because I agree 100%.

Just a humble genius :) 03.25.10 at 9:40 am

In what twisted way could these quotes be seen as non-American? Those are the principles that founded this country.

I’m more interested in how *you* think they could be interpreted that way. These are fundamental founding quotes, and whether someone believes in them as principles or not, it would take a fair twist of logic to view them as counter to the general constitution of the USA.
