Isn't a government supposed to fear its people and not the other way around?

by FearLessDoMore on July 11, 2011

More and more western governments are acting like a Mafia, especially the United States and the United kingdom. Why have we allowed our governments to become so powerful and to the point where most citizens actually fear their authority. As everybody knows, respect through fear is only fear and not respect at all. How do we correct this mistake and put our governments back in their place?

Here are a few relevant quotes to my question:
"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. "
By Thomas Jefferson
"People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people"
From the movie V for Vendetta.
Of course our government could be a lot worse than it is, you only have to look at Iran or China to see this but this doesn’t mean it’s right or justified for a government to act like a Mafia.
As good examples, during these recent spending cuts their have been many protests and pleas from large numbers of people and not even once did the government even negotiate or reconsider an alternative. Its like the only democratic part of our government is the actual election and even that’s questionable considering nobody voted for a coalition. Its beyond a joke and it urgently needs sorting out before George Orwell gets categorised as a ‘PROPHET’ for his 1984 vision of our dystopian future.
Baroccoli: What a wonderful, thought provoking analogy. That is very interesting, very revealing perspective of behaviour. Thank you for taking the time to share that with me, I’d never heard that before.

Not according to the Barack Insane Obama school of government.

The general public are sheep and have been conditioned to obey.
We are not truely free as we are told.
The only way to change things is for the masses to rise against the government.
Isn’t the story line to V for vendetta looking good:P?

The people voted that government into power. Unless the constitution was repealed while I wasn’t looking, there’s nothing to stop them voting for someone else.

Firstly, you need to grow up. Most Western countries are being run by extremely intelligent people sincerely trying their best for the country they are running. As a Briton, I am certain that David Cameron is an honest politician trying to do well. I may be a labour voter, but I’m not so pig-ignorant as to believe he’s running some sort of mafia operation.

Our governments haven’t become more powerful. They ran the country, they still run the country. No change to the status quo.

As much as you may hate to hear it, the world is still tottering along quite nicely. We’ve always had people who think the ‘anitchrist’ is about and that the world is about to end or stuff like that. Pull your head out your backside and smell the roses.

You are absolutely right (I quote myself frequently one of my favorite authors).
We have to get the power back to the people. We have to vote for a real change in the Congress not a phony one promised by the corrupt imbecile in the WH.

If you start with a cage containing five monkeys and inside the cage, hang a banana on a string from the top and then you place a set of stairs under the banana, before long a monkey will go to the stairs and climb toward the banana.

As soon as he touches the stairs, you spray all the other monkeys with cold water. After a while another monkey makes an attempt with same result … all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water.
Pretty soon , when another monkey tries to climb the stairs the other monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, put the cold water away. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and attempts to climb the stairs. To his shock, all of the other monkeys beat the crap out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original five monkeys, replacing it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment… with enthusiasm.

Then, replace a third original monkey with a new one, followed by a fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs he is attacked. Most of the monkeys that are beating him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs. Neither do they know why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.

Finally, having replaced all of the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys will have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, none of the monkeys will try to climb the stairway for the banana.

Why, you ask? Because in their minds… that is the way it has always been!

This, my friends, is how Politics operates… and is why, from time to time, ALL OF THE MONKEYS NEED TO BE REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME.

Only at election times.

Once elected by the peoples - and then (supposedly) acting for/on behalf of the peoples is a pipe dream - those days/attitudes/beliefs are ‘long gone - if they ever existed at all.

The modern day policy for election/governing ‘around the world’ is…..promise ‘all and give nothing’ - control the peoples at all times - and make the ‘peoples accountable’ to the governments……not the ‘other way round’…….thats called democracy (politicians version) that ‘defunct’ wording that no country in the world has.!!!

Once a political party is elected - anywhere around the world - thats it - ‘we will all do’ as we are told by them………..or else.!!

Elected governments have no power and can only follow the manifesto of the Zionist banking oligarchy that control all bar 5 private, for profit central banks in the world. The New World Order of single world government has been here for many years. They are now tightening the noose so they can rule in the open.

You give them and monkeys far to much credence, you see things that quite frankly don’t exist.
